For nature-loving travellers, what could be better than a cozy cabin retreat within the depths of dense nature? With eco-tourism on the ride thanks to the general realization that climate change is real, cabin stays tend to be better for the natural landscape, often having lodges stood alone, isolated amid the countryside utilising sustainable amenities, rather than large-scale, high energy-consuming hotel properties. These are the perfect getaway to embrace a life unplugged, away from everyday chaos. Whether it’s solo, a new couple’s romantic retreat, or the re-connection of old relationships and bonds, we’d all benefit from a weekend of nature appreciation in a secluded cabin stay.
Why I love cabin stays?
Well, there are so many reasons! One of the things I love most about cabin stays is the opportunity to disconnect. As a full time blogger and a mother of neurodivergent children, it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle. It’s not easy to let it go, all at once, but if I’m gently forced to do so….I’m happy to do it. Staying in a cabin, away from the distractions of life, allows me to reconnect with myself and nature. I can spend hours unwinding on the porch, listening to the sounds of the forest or sea, taking walks while breathing in the fresh, crisp air. Forest bathing. Cabins also provide a space for bonding with loved ones staying with you. Preparing meals together in a rustic kitchen, sharing stories by the fireplace, or simply enjoying the surroundings and doing NOTHING for once.
Here are some of the best destinations for exactly that.
Marseille, France
One of France’s largest port cities sitting on the Mediterranean coast, Marseille is a cultural hub for the French and home to great natural significance. From golden sands to lush greenery, the natural world of Marseille is a haven for a cabin stay within the beauty. Head to Calanques National Park on the coast for views of dramatic clifflines, lucid waters, and diverse coastal ecosystems. Hike amid various walking trails, ranging from easy to difficult terrains and routes and each has breathtaking views across the seascape. If an escape in greenery beats the coastal gem, Parc Longchamp is in the heart of the Marseille region and is a park famous as a green oasis, with a range of water fountains and sculptures dotted throughout.
Within the province, are various sustainable lodging options, providing friendly rural retreats for nature lovers to rest at night. For a luxurious escape, research treehouse cabin accommodation in the area. ‘The Treehouse Experience’ are homes nestled within dense pine trees, thus providing a secluded escape in the heart of nature. Spot up high wildlife also living within the trees and embrace the eco-friendly amenities of the staying conditions.
