As you know, I love bringing sustainable and ethical businesses to your attention, when I think they deserve the spotlight. This time, I’d like to introduce you to Ben & Anna. Their motto is: Zero Waste Essentials, with all the Credentials – and I am very much familiar with the brand as we used to stock them in my zero waste shop some years back. My shop is gone, sadly, but their products were always very popular and highly rated by our customers and we can buy them online, directly from Ben & Anna.
About Ben & Anna
The brand was founded by a vegan couple in Germany and it stands on 3 important pillars: sustainable, vegan and plastic-free. At the beginnings, experimenting with organic and natural ingredients like soda bicarbonate for toothpaste, they now produce skincare based solely on all natural ingredients and is free of parabens. None of their products are tested on animals and their packaging material is chosen wisely in order to have the lowest impact on the environment as possible: it’s plastic-free and zero-waste.
Certifications
Ben & Anna took matter seriously and went ahead to obtain all the major certifications to prove their credentials, like PETA’s Leaping Bunny and the stamp of The Vegan Society, amongst others.
Their product range
Ben & Anna developed a full skincare product range over the years, you can now find:
- shower gel and shampoo/hair conditioner
- deodorant
- dental products
- bath salts
- hand cream
What I thought about the products I tried
I have received:
- Lemongrass shampoo bar with cocoa butter, vanilla aroma and curcuma RRP £6.95
- Lavender bath salt – sea salt with aromatic lavender RRP £7.95
- PolyPotato Deodorant Cream ‘Love Me’ floral fragrance with sodium bicarbonate, shea butter and valuable vegetable oils RRP £8.95
- Strawberry and Raspberry lip balms with nourishing formulas RRP £4.95
Although, I knew Ben & Anna products from earlier – I have not tried these ones before.
Lemongrass shampoo bar – really nice and creamy texture. It cleans well, leaves the hear squeaky clean, which is a great feeling, I thought I need some hair conditioner after using it. With shampoo bars – you need to use it a few times to get used to it, so don’t give up. It smells very refreshing.
Lavender bath salt – this has an amazing scent, really strong and good quality.
PolyPotato Deodorant Cream ‘Love Me’ – great fragrance and even better packaging, made of potato starch. Completely home compostable. The deodorant is creamy and very easy to apply. With my fingertips it’s easy to apply the right quantity. I’ve been using a different eco deodorant for a while but this works well too (tried in winter time but during work out and the results are promising – meaning in warmer months it doesn’t melt off.
Strawberry and Raspberry lip balms – simple yet powerful little paper tubes. They smell nice and do the job perfectly.

Definitely the shampoo bar. Its been something I have wanted to try for a long time in an effort to reduce my use of plastic shampoo bottles. However I seem to keep being gifted shampoos in bottles and can’t afford not to use them up first.
