Are chickpeas good for you?
Hellyeah! Their fibre and protein content are especially good:
Fibre: One serving of chickpeas provides over 20% of your daily fibre needs, so that’s like 2-3 handfuls of these delicious BBQ chickpeas!
Protein: Chickpeas are also a great source of plant-based protein (perfect for vegans!), with 7g per serving. That’s about a large egg.
That’s not all! Chickpeas are a good source of essential vitamins and minerals, like iron, magnesium, and folate. Their low glycemic index makes them a smart option for those managing blood sugar levels.
Do I have to peel chickpeas before roasting?
No, it’s not needed. Some people peel them but I think it’s a waste of time and nutrients. I just roast them as they are.
Do I have to soak chickpeas in water before roasting?
If you use dry chickpeas – yes, you should soak them overnight or at least a couple of hours. If you use canned chickpeas, you don’t have to. Either way, make sure you dry them before seasoning and roasting.
