There are so many brownie recipes I love and make. Depending on what ingredients I have at home, there are countless brownie variations I can make. It’s easy to swap out sugars and sweeteners, different flours and binding agents – it really all depends on your imagination. So I thought, I put a post together with 5 really good vegan brownie recipes to give you some inspiration – home baking is really rewarding and nothing compares to the feeling!

1 Vegan Sweet Potato Brownies with Almond Flour
Ingredients
- 1 large sweet potato
- 50g almond flour
- 60g unsweetened cocoa powder
- 60g cup maple syrup
- 4 tbsp coconut oil
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
Method
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking dish with parchment paper or grease it with vegan butter/olive oil.
- Peel and chop the sweet potato into small cubes, steam them until they are soft, then mash them.
- Add everything to a mixing bowl and mix well until well combined. You can add chopped nuts at this point.
- Spoon the mixture into the prepared baking dish and even it out with a spatula.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes. Check the middle with a toothpick.
- Allow the bake to cool for at least 10 minutes before cutting and serving.
2 Vegan Chocolate Fudge Brownies
Ingredients
- 125g all-purpose flour
- 60g unsweetened cocoa powder
- 125g vegan butter, melted
- 80g brown sugar (not packed)
- 120ml nut milk (almond preferably)
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Optional: vegan chocolate chips
Method
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking dish with parchment paper or grease it with vegan butter/olive oil.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together the melted vegan butter, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and well combined.
- Mix the contents of the two bowls together.
- Gradually pour in the nut milk into the mixture, stirring until the batter is smooth and all is well combined. Now you can fold in the vegan chocolate chips.
- Spoon the mixture into the prepared baking dish and even it out with a spatula.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes. Check the middle with a toothpick.
- Allow the bake to cool for at least 10 minutes before cutting and serving.
3 Vegan Blonde Brownies
Ingredients
- 200g all purpose flour
- 130g white sugar
- 110g vegan butter, melted
- 6 tbsp unsweetened applesauce
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 90g vegan white chocolate chips
Method
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking dish with parchment paper or grease it with vegan butter/olive oil.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together melted vegan butter with the brown sugar until smooth caramel-like. Now add the applesauce and vanilla and mix them well.

Add the flour, baking powder and salt and combine. The dough should be a bit thick and sticky.
- Fold in the vegan white chocolate chips.

Transfer the mixture to the prepared pan and press down evenly with your hands or a spatula. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until the top is set and the blondies are golden.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes. Check the middle with a toothpick.
- Allow the bake to cool for at least 10 minutes before cutting and serving.
4 Vegan Chocolate Brownies with Dates
Ingredients
- 75g oat flour (make oat flour just by blitzing regular oat flakes in the food processor)
- 230g pitted dates
- 30g unsweetened cocoa powder
- 60g unsweetened applesauce
- 2 tsp nut butter of your choice
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Optional: 50g vegan chocolate chips
Method
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking dish with parchment paper or grease it with vegan butter/olive oil.
- Soak the dates in hot boiled water for 10 minutes until they are soft. In the meantime, add all the other ingredients (excl. choc chips of course) to the food processor.
- Add the dates to the food processor too and blend until the mixture is evenly combined.
- Fold in the vegan chocolate chips.

Transfer the mixture to the prepared pan and press down evenly with your hands or a spatula. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until the top is set and the blondies are golden.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes. Check the middle with a toothpick.
- Allow the bake to cool for at least 10 minutes before cutting and serving.
5 Vegan Avocado Brownies
Ingredients
- 120g spelt flour
- 1/2 medium size ripe avocado mashed
- 60g unsweetened cocoa powder
- 240ml nut milk
- 60ml maple syrup
- 120g coconut sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Optional: 90g vegan chocolate chips
Method
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking dish with parchment paper or grease it with vegan butter/olive oil.
- In a blender, combine the avocado, the nut milk, the maple syrup and the coconut sugar, until smooth.
- In a bowl, combine the spelt flour, the cocoa powder, the baking soda and the salt then stir together. Then combine all ingredients together.
- Fold in the vegan chocolate chips.
- Bake for about 20 minutes. Check the middle with a toothpick.
- Allow the bake to cool for at least 10 minutes before cutting and serving.
