Flooring is one of the biggest decisions you’ll make in your home. It influences the entire look and feel of your space and plays a huge role in how you live day to day. Whether you’re tackling a full renovation or just refreshing one room, keeping up with current trends helps you choose a style that’s not only beautiful but practical too.
This year, homeowners are leaning into warmth, character, and clever design. From patterns that make a statement to smart solutions for busy households, flooring is getting the attention it deserves. And it’s clear that certain styles—like parquet, engineered wood, and luxury vinyl—are leading the way.
Patterns That Make an Impact
Statement floors are back, and parquet is topping the trend list. Whether it’s herringbone in the hallway or chevron in the dining room, geometric layouts are adding instant charm to homes. Parquet flooring is loved for its vintage appeal, but today’s versions are anything but old-fashioned. With a wide range of finishes and plank sizes, it can look sleek and modern or full of rustic character.
Best of all, parquet isn’t just for period properties. Thanks to pre-engineered options and click-fit systems, it’s more accessible than ever. Homeowners are embracing it as a way to elevate their space with something that feels timeless yet completely fresh.
Embracing Practical Style
A major shift in flooring choices is the move toward materials that look fantastic but are easy to live with. Engineered wood is a great example. It delivers the natural beauty of timber but offers more stability and less maintenance. Because of its layered construction, it handles temperature changes better, which means you can use it in more rooms around the home.
From warm oak to rich walnut tones, engineered wood brings a sense of depth and luxury underfoot. And because many options come prefinished, it’s a straightforward choice for busy households who still want that real wood look.
Durability Meets Design
Another favourite among homeowners right now is luxury vinyl. While it’s been around for a while, recent innovations in texture, finish, and quality have made LVT flooring a true design contender. People love it for its durability—especially in high-traffic areas—and its uncanny ability to mimic wood or stone.
LVT is especially popular in homes with children or pets because it’s easy to clean and soft underfoot. It’s also a great choice for bathrooms and kitchens where moisture resistance is a must. The range of styles and finishes available means it can seamlessly fit with nearly any interior scheme, from minimalist to farmhouse chic.
Coordinated Looks Across the Home
One trend that’s really catching on is coordinating flooring across different rooms. Homeowners are mixing materials in a way that feels intentional rather than mismatched. For instance, parquet might feature in the lounge, while engineered wood is used in bedrooms, and LVT handles the practical needs of the kitchen or hallway.
The key is finding tones and textures that flow nicely from one space to another. It’s all about creating cohesion while still meeting the needs of each room.
Flooring Becomes a Defining Feature
Flooring is no longer just about what’s underfoot—it’s a defining feature of your home’s personality. Whether you’re drawn to the timeless elegance of parquet, the resilience and warmth of engineered wood, or the practicality of LVT, today’s options make it easy to balance style with everyday life.
