Holding a party is a favourite pastime for many reading this and beyond. Enabling family, friends and more to get together for a joyous occasion is one that can’t be matched. At the same time, planning a party can be a challenging and time-consuming process, mainly if you have not hosted a party before.
At the same time, even the most experienced party hosts may be experiencing some levels of trepidation following what has been a prolonged hiatus from events in the last fourteen months or so. It would help if you didn’t put yourself under too much pressure. While you will undoubtedly want the party to be the absolute best one possible after the last year’s events, this could cause some obstacles and issues for you.
This is where you are in luck, fellow party planner! Detailed below are some of the critical factors to consider when hosting a themed party in 2021 and beyond. Whether you intend to host a more intimate gathering, or one that is packed to the brim, read on for more!
Choosing a Theme
For the most part, this could be considered the most critical aspect of hosting a themed party. Not only will you need to narrow down the options that are available to you, but you will need to choose one that suits the tastes of those attending as well.
Exploring what theme options are out there and using social media platforms like Pinterest for inspiration will make this process run a bit smoother. At the same time, you can get a better idea of what decorations and props you will need to make your party as authentic as possible.
This takes us to the next point.
Selecting Decorations
If you are anything like us, you enjoy going all out when it comes to selecting decorations for events you are hosting. Choosing the right decorations for your event is one of the most important elements of hosting a themed party; how else will your guests feel immersed in the event?! Setting up props can give a lively look and special ambiance at your party. If you’re going for a medieval theme party, then you might need to use some typical knight gear, such as swords, metallic helmets, and shiny armor which you can display on the walls or lay on tables for your guests to admire. It also makes a great prop for pictures as well as videos. But if you are hosting a Cartival-themed party then creating a vibrant carnival wonderland, may be realized with colorful inflatables like giant balloons, carousel animals, and playful clowns. Imagine customized blow-up displays in the shapes of towering Ferris wheels or a whimsical circus tent serving as captivating focal points. To engage your guests, include inflatable games such as ring tosses or dart boards, adding an interactive element to the festivities.
Once you have established a theme for your party, explore the range of decorations that are on offer. Determine whether you will buy all of your decorations from a store or online, or whether you can save on the budget for this part of your event by making some yourself.
While it might appear time-consuming to some to make your own party decorations, it can be rather fulfilling once completed. Not to mention, when people notice the effort you have gone to, and commend you!
Food and Drink Options
Naturally, when hosting a party in any capacity, you want to do what you can to ensure that your guests are well fed and watered throughout. While you could choose more generic items for your spread, when hosting a themed party you have more flexibility to experiment with the food and drink that you offer your guests.
Mainly when hosting a themed party based on a geographical location, you can choose snacks and drinks from a specific place, bringing an element of that location to your home or venue of choice. If you intend to host an American themed party, you are spoiled for choice in what you offer your guests. In a country filled with various cuisines and snacks, you may struggle to choose just one or two!
Furthermore, there are a variety of companies out there who provide American chocolate hampers and other related products, perfect for offering snacks to your guests! Provided by businesses like Sweet Hamper Company and a range of others; you can rest assured that you will find something that meets your needs in no time.
Guest List
Much like when deciding what food and drink or decorations you will be providing at your party, narrowing down the guest list could also prove challenging. This element of party planning might not have previously proved much of an issue. Nowadays, there are other factors that you must take into consideration, including the likes of restrictions on numbers and whether you can host the party indoors or not.
Paying attention to the ever-changing rules and regulations will give you a better idea of numbers. Once you have set in stone how many people you would like to host for, nothing stops you from sending out those invites to your nearest and dearest! Selecting invites that reflect the party’s theme will help tie everything together; don’t forget to remind your guests to dress up!
Naturally, there is a range of other things to consider when planning a themed party, including that of your own outfit! Ensuring that you take time for yourself throughout the planning process will ensure that things run as smoothly as possible on the day. Remember to ask others for help as well, for it does not have to be a one-person show.
Finally, have fun! If you are anything like us, this is an event you have waited months for. Watch your efforts pay off!
